Lyric analysis

Lyric analysis

Even though the dancing's done
Don't worry 'cause the night is young
Who cares where we go
We're ready for the afterglow
àAt this point in the video I will introduce the feeling of ‘afterglow’, with an introduction to the use of colour, powder paint ‘fight’ element to the video (after the introduction of the setting, lead singer and backing performers etc.)
Someone hold the sunlight back
'Cause we want this light to last
Smoke and lasers, love and ravers
àI will introduce my couple where ‘love and ravers is used’ (Zoe and Ben) introducing this aspect of the video (their relationship) at this point in the video. This will also add more ‘depth’ meaning to the video (with undertones within the backing performer’s relationships/interactions)
àWhere ‘smoke and lasers’ is used I will have a backing performer throw powder paint (predominantly within the shot) in order to give a ‘smoke’ feel/aspect (linking nicely to the lyrics visually)
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
Lights and action, strong attraction
àWhere ‘strong attraction’ is used I will create this visually through have the couple within my backing performers reflect this lyrics (with an element of attraction within the shot-adding ‘meaning’ to the video other than the powder paint fight)
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
Oh baby, baby

Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow

We're ready for the afterglow!
àAt this point in the video I will use slow-motion (the singing/instrumental being fairly long at this point) with all of the backing performers within the shot throwing powder paint at each-other in order to reflect the ‘afterglow’//’feel-good’ aspect of the lyric. The use of slow motion putting a stylized emphasis on this.

Even though the dancing's done
àAt this point there will be an emphasis of ‘calm’ in contrast to the previous fast/past editing, where slow motion is used to show two backing dancers and the artist  ‘re-winding’ from the action of throwing powder paint’. With the framing being focused mainly on the lead artist
Don't worry 'cause the night is young
Who cares where we go
We're ready for the afterglow

Someone hold the sunlight back
àHere I will fast forwards and then rewind a shot of someone throwing yellow/orange powder paint (in order to symbolise the sun/sunlight)-meaning a visual expressive interpretation on the lyric
'Cause we want this light to last

Smoke and lasers, love and ravers
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
Lights and action, strong attraction
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
Oh baby, baby
Strong attraction
àWithin this verse/section of lyrics the use of ‘love and ravers’ and repeated ‘strong attraction’ will be visually reflected through the slow motion of couples dancing with an obvious attraction between them-the use of slow motion and these points emphasising this

Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow

àThis closing line of the song//video will show a clear focus on the main singer at the end of the powder paint fight (showing the progression from the beginning of the video before it begins), here the shot will be framed so that the background is visible and the main artist’s clothing/face being covered in powder paint. After she has finished lip-singing this line there will be a slow motion ‘extension’ to the shot of her laughing (meaning the video both ends on a positive and gives a final reflection of the artist’s personality etc.
